About me
Mackenzie Bennett is a master’s student in the School of Library and Information Science program at the
University of Iowa and works at the Kirkendall Public Library in Ankeny, Iowa.
She holds a BS in Spanish and Communications from Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa, and spent several years working in human resources in Tempe, Arizona.
Mackenzie is an emerging scholar who has spent the past year researching the ALA Library Bill of Rights and the
document’s historical roots in the state of Iowa. Along the way, she developed a passion for promoting intellectual
freedom in library settings. Mackenzie plans to pursue a career in academic libraries.
