2026 ILA Conference
Thursday October 8, 2026 4:00pm - 4:50pm PDT
Learn how ALA intellectual freedom documents are created, updated, and used as practical tools to guide decisions, strengthen policy, and communicate clearly with staff, leadership, and the community.

Attendees will learn about the structure and purpose of core ALA intellectual freedom documents and how they relate to one another, how interpretations and policies are developed, reviewed, and revised by ALA member groups. They will also learn to apply relevant ALA guidance to real-world library scenarios using a practical decision-making approach and to identify ways to use these resources in policy development, staff training, and professional development.
